Shoot a Formal Portrait
1. background close to wall --> 10-20 ft clear space infront of background
2. Placement
- assistant hold reflector on left of subject (3-4ft)
- assistant adjust to angle and position of reflector
3. camera directly infront of subject (6-10ft)
Camera Setting
- f/2 or f/2.8
- for zoom lense f/3.5 or f/4.5
- use wide-open aperture
Lighting for formal Portraits
Indoors
- one light 45 degrees side of subject
Outdoors
- direct sunlight - NOT GOOD
-open shade= GOOD!
The Candid Portrait
- capture person going about everyday life and activities
- include surrounds
- takes more time

- 1/250 shutter speed
The Enironmental Portrait
- subjects surrounding hlep tell story
- good idea of surounding --> determine how big the subject has to be

- wide angle lense useful in environmental portraits --> especially indoors
- f/5.6 to f/8 or f/41- greater depth
Retouch a Dighital Portrait
- clone/healing brush repair problem areas on photoshop
The Self- Portrait
- become your own subject
- take picture of self
- usually can't tell if it's a self-portrait
